SWITC Testimonials

At Liden Primary School, we have been extremely impressed with Dave and Tyler at ‘Swindon Wildcats in the Community’. They both came in and gave an assembly, which will take years to forget for our children. The children were amazed by the speed at which the sport is played. Dave and Tyler made the assembly engaging and interactive, with facts, videos, pictures and even match worn jerseys, meaning all children had an opportunity to get involved. The excitement lasted weeks after their visit! After the assembly, I invited Dave and Tyler back into school, a few weeks later, to take part in a class’ end of term reward party. Children read letters to Tyler and Dave after they had left a lasting impact on them, then they played hockey with the children. Their natural connection with children and warm manner meant that the children were overcome with excitement when they came in and surprised them. We are about to embark on three terms of Swindon Wildcats ‘Introduction to Skating’ programme, where children are taught the fundamental skills of ice skating, at the Link Centre. Children AND staff cannot wait! ‘Swindon Wildcats in the Community’ have become a part of our school, which has given children a real passion for a sport they never thought of giving a go, before now.

Tregoze have thoroughly enjoyed working with the Swindon Wildcats and the children have really reaped the benefits of many experiences throughout the year.

Through player visits, street hockey taster sessions and ice skating lessons the children have enjoyed a range of enriching experiences that will inspire them. The after school street hockey club has been extremely popular and has given children the opportunity to develop their hockey skills in fun and engaging weekly sessions.

Several classes have been lucky enough to experience ice skating sessions for a term delivered by Dave and Robbie. During these sessions, it has been a delight to watch the children grow in confidence and ability on the ice and several children have taken up ice skating or ice hockey off the back of this.

There is a fantastic pathway into Ice Hockey in Swindon and many children at Tregoze have been inspired by the Wildcats players whilst working with them and dream of playing for the Wildcats in the future. We are proud to be an official Wildcat school and look forward to continuing our partnership with the players and coaches this year!
