The Bespoke Guardians Swindon Wildcats are thrilled to confirm that Ben O’Connor will be extending his contract by another season with the club. This news means Ben will be joining Ed Bradley, Jamie Smith and Ryan Wells on the Cats' blue line for the 26/27 season.

Last summer saw Ben move from Dundee down to Wiltshire, and his experience and talent immediately became valuable to the team.

For most of the season, he has been mentoring Jamie Smith as his D partner and has provided vital moments at both ends of the ice for Aaron Nell and his team.

At the time of writing, he is the highest point-scoring defenceman in the National League and has played a key role in the Wildcats' title charge this campaign.

Head Coach Aaron Nell was understandably happy to have Ben on board for another season.

"Bringing Ben to Swindon was a massive move by the club last Summer and we are all delighted with how it has gone for us. Ben’s been a brilliant asset to the organisation and has played a crucial role on and off the ice for us this season.

His great leadership and presence are felt further than on the ice, being such a vital part of our locker room too. Getting him back for another year is huge for us. With Ed, Jamie, Ryan and now Ben signed up, all playing in front of Renny, I am really excited about the D core we are putting together for next year again."

Ben himself went on to add:

"I am over the moon to be back in Swindon for another year. When I signed originally for both parties from Aaron and the ownership group, it was, let us do one year and see how it is. I am loving it! It is a great team, and we are doing well this year. It was an easy decision for me to sign here again, and I could not be happier to be back for another season!"
