Josh Shaw. Jamie Smith. Dylan Lipsey.

Three signings this week which demonstrate signings for the here and now, all with tremendous potential for the future. All whose journeys have all began in the Swindon Hockey Academy.

After getting the pen to paper of three stars of tomorrow Head Coach Aaron Nell had the following to say:

Signing Josh, Jamie and Dylan were important signings for the club this summer. They have all played in over 100 games and they are still yet to turn 20 years old.

Josh’s game is 200ft and he uses his speed incredibly well. He scored some big goals for us last year at times and we want to be a faster team across the ice. Our 4th line last year was one of most consistent and his game was a part of that.

Similarly with Dylan, they formed a good partnership and that saw them both get picked for Team GB. They are both players who can have long careers with the Wildcats and can contribute on the scoresheet too. Dylan’s work-rate is infectious, and neither of them are afraid to get stuck in at the dirty areas.

At the back-end Jamie is a player who broke through before we expected him too and has developed into a very solid defenceman. He’s big, he’s physical and he blocks shots which is everything you want a D man to do at this level. He plays the body well and with age, he still has room to grow as a man and a player.

Our depth last year was something we were proud of and we want to continue to be a deep team this year. These 3 players all help us do that and they all have big roles to play this coming season.
