It was a narrow 4-3 defeat on Sunday night for the Swindon Wildcats against the Peterborough Phantoms

The Wildcats started the game with a five minute powerplay opportunity and took full advantage with Glenn Billing tipping the puck into the net at 05:46.


After some very important saves from Renny Marr, the Wildcats then got another late powerplay opportunity and again took advantage with Jake Bricknell firing high past Hayden Lavinge to extend the lead to two.


End of the first period: Phantoms 0-2 Wildcats


However the Phantoms started the second much differently and got their first goal of the game. Cam Hough latching onto a rebound and firing high past Marr at 21:20.


It would then be an equaliser for the Phantoms with Brad Bowering tipping the puck into the top corner past Marr at 28:27. Just two minutes later the Phantoms would then get the lead on the powerplay, Nathan Salem firing the puck high in the slot at 20:23.


The Cats then got a another powerplay opportunity of their own and Balint Pakozdi scored a brilliant goal high past Lavinge to tie it up at three. But the Phantoms hit back with a powerplay goal of their own, Salem again finding the lose puck and squeezing it over the line at 35:13.


End of the second period: Phantoms 3-4 Wildcats


The Wildcats threw everything at it in the final period but the Peterborough Phantoms defensive and goalkeeper stood strong to give the home side maximum points.

Despite the loss on the Sunday it’s still a huge two points this weekend especially missing key forward Tomasz Malasinski.


The Wildcats only have one game next weekend which is a home game against the Sheffield Steeldogs.
