Saturday night is set to be a blockbuster game at the Link Centre as the Swindon Wildcats face off against the reigning league champions the Leeds Knights.
Both teams have had a hot start to the season. The Knights are currently unbeaten while the Cats have secured 7/8 points. There have also been many stand-out players on both teams but these are two players to watch out for this weekend.
Swindon Wildcats – Ed Bradley
Ed has had a huge impact on the team and settled in very well after making the move to Swindon this summer. He is a player Aaron has wanted the last few seasons and after making the move to join the Cats he has certainly shown why he is one of the best defensemen in the league.
Ed has already picked up five points in the first four games including two very well-taken goals. Both of those goals were huge for the Cats as they were the opening goals of both away games this season. He picked up Man of the Match last weekend against his former team the Berkshire Bees after a stellar performance. He is definitely someone to watch this Saturday, a very smooth skater who thrives on the puck and has been a huge piece to Aaron Nells's team.
Leeds Knights – Matt Barron
The Canadian is playing in his second season with the Knights. After having such a positive impact on Ryan Aldridge's team last season, he had no choice but to bring him back. Matt has started the season fantastically, scoring in each of the first four games. But being the complete player is the most impressive part of his game. He is a very strong two-way player but this season has started picking up a lot more points. Seven goals and two assists to start the 24/25 campaign.
Matt played one full season in the USports where he scored a point per game which is very impressive. He also played in the ECHL for the Trois-Rivieres Lions which is a very high level in Canada scoring 11 points in 39 games. At just 25 years old Matt is still heading into his prime hockey years and has been one of the best players in the league to start this 24/25 season. Definitely someone the Cats need to watch out for on Saturday.
