The Swindon Wildcats continued their superb run of form with a commanding 5–2 victory over the Sheffield Steeldogs at The Link Centre on Saturday night.
The visitors struck first just three minutes in, with Ivan Bjorkly-Nordstrom finding the net at 03:01, assisted by Larinmaa and Knaggs. However, the Wildcats hit straight back just 25 seconds later when Sam Godfrey levelled the scores, assisted by Tyler Watkins and Griffiths.
Swindon quickly took control of the game, and Aaron Nell fired the hosts ahead at 05:12, assisted by Tomasz Malasinski, to give the Wildcats a 2–1 lead heading into the break.
Early in the second period, Swindon turned up the pressure. Ryan Wells extended the advantage at 21:26 from a Griffiths assist, before doubling his tally just three minutes later with help from O’Connor and Watkins. Moments later, Watkins got himself on the scoresheet at 24:59, assisted by Griffiths and Wells, capping off a stunning spell of three goals in under four minutes and putting the Wildcats 5–1 ahead.
Sheffield managed to pull one back late in the period through a short-handed effort from Cole Shudra at 39:59, but it was little more than a consolation as Swindon held firm through a scoreless third period to seal another impressive home win.
The victory keeps the Wildcats’ strong form rolling as they continue to set the pace at the top of the PINIHL standings.
