The Link Centre was buzzing tonight as the Swindon Wildcats put on a show for the home fans.
Josh Shaw scored two huge goals to help the Wildcats to an important league and cup win.
Start of the first period:
The first period started fast with both teams creating very minimal chances. Both teams making some big defensive plays.
End of the first period: Wildcats 0-0 Knights
It would be the Wildcats who opened the scoring with Josh Shaw firing it high past Sam Gospel at 22:05
However the Knights came back quickly with Matt Barron firing the puck from a tight angle into the net at 23:22.
The Knights got into some penalty trouble and the Wildcats took full advantage with Ed Bradley firing the puck into the top corner at 25:52.
The Cats used this momentum and scored another powerplay goal, this time Aaron Nell first timing the puck into the back of the net at 26:43.
The Wildcats then killed two Knights powerplays to hold the two goal lead going into the final period.
End of the second period: Wildcats 3-1 Knights
It was a fast start to the third for the Knights with Kieran Brown firing the puck into the bottom corner to rude the deficit to one at 41:35.
However the Wildcats withstood the pressure and it would be Josh Shaw who raced away and fired the puck into the top corner past Sam Gospel at 45:17.
The third line for Swindon did some fantastic battling again and were rewarded with Luc Johnson recieving a pass from Sam Bullas and firing it high into the goal at 47:01.
The Knights pulled one back on the powerplay, Brown again finding space and finding the top corner at 51:22.
But the Wildcats would put on a great defeinsive shutdown for the final 10 minutes keep the Knights out and Edgars Bebris put the icing on the cake with the empty net goal to seal a important league and cup victory.
