After the Swindon Wildcats dropped a point on Saturday night in a shootout 6-5, they bounced back with a big 4-1 away victory in Sheffield against the Steeldogs.

Ed Bradley with another two goals this weekend and now has a goal in his last four games for the Cats since signing his two year extension.

Saturday match report: Wildcats Vs Seahawks

It was Jake Bricknell who opened the scoring once again with a lovely tip past Dima Zimozdra timed at 6:23. The Wildcats had a few more opportunities but the Seahawks defence stood strong in front of their netminder.

Then a goal fest in the second period! Tomasz Malasinski sniped it top corner on the powerplay just two minutes into the second. But the Seahawks replied with a powerplay goal of their own, Emil Svec blasting a puck off a Wildcat stick and past Marr. Just nine seconds later, Bricknell scored his second of the game as he received a lovely pass from Antonov and fired it low past Zimozdra. However, just 23 seconds later, another former Wildcat in Declan Balmer would snipe one past Marr to make it a one goal game again. Svec would then tie the game up on the powerplay with another blast from the blueline into the top corner. The Cats then scored another powerplay goal of their own with Bradley firing low past Zimozdra timed at 34:56. But the goals weren’t done there as Chamberlain first timed the puck past Marr at 36:26.

The Cats scored their third powerplay goal of the evening and it would also be Bricknell’s third goal of the game as he fired it past Zimozdra just 40 seconds in. But as Hull had done all game, Balmer slap shot the puck into the top to tie it up at five. The game went to overtime but still no goal meaning it would be decided on penalty shots.

After shootout goals from Pakozdi, Wells Corneil and Bonner in the first five, it would go to sudden death. Corneil and Bricknell would go back and fourth scoring another two each before Svec finished the game off with the winning penalty shot for the Seahawks, handing them the extra point.

End of the game: Wildcats 5-6 (PS) Seahawks

Sunday night report: Steeldogs Vs Wildcats

After some early Wildcats pressure, it would actually be the Steeldogs who took the lead with a very nice goal from Phillips who fired it top corner past Marr. Goal timed at 8:57. The Cats responded well and Captain Sam Bullas scrapped the puck through Crowe and into the net to tie it up at 16:40, some lovely work from Antonov to keep the pressure.

Tyler Plews then gave the Wildcats their first lead of the game with a snipe past Crowe to get his second of the season, timed at 24:05. Then less than three minutes later, Bradley would snipe another powerplay goal low past Crowe at 26:55. The Cats successfully killed a powerplay at the end of the second period to lead by two going into the final frame.

It was a very professional final period by the Cats with some strong puck possession and defensive shut down from all four lines. The Steeldogs pulled the goalie for the extra but this only gave Bricknell a chance cor the empty netter and he made no mistake firing it into the cage to hand the Wildcats the two points.

End of the game: Steeldogs 1-4 Wildcats

A strong weekend for the Cats, securing 3/4 points against two very tough teams!
