Wildcats Open Pre-Season With Two Tight Tests Against The Tigers

The Swindon Wildcats got their 2026/27 pre-season campaign underway with two closely fought games against the Telford Tigers, with both games going down to the wire.

Wildcats 3–4 Telford Tigers

The first meeting took place at the Link Centre on Saturday night, with Liam Fraser making his Wildcats debut and immediately making an impact.

Fraser opened the scoring after just 6:41, marking his first appearance in Swindon colours with a goal.

Telford responded through Caelan McPhee at 8:53 before Corey Goodison put the Tigers ahead at 15:34.

Eric Henderson then extended Telford’s advantage at 23:03, but the Wildcats continued to battle and Ed Bradley pulled one back at 30:25.

The Tigers restored their two-goal lead just before the end of the second, through Ronnie Paragallo at 39:27, leaving Swindon needing a strong third period.

Chris Jones gave the Wildcats hope with a goal at 44:00, but despite the Cats efforts, Telford held on strong to take a narrow 4–3 victory.

Telford Tigers 3–4 Wildcats

The two sides met again on Sunday, with the Wildcats travelling to Telford for the return fixture.

The Tigers once again opened the scoring, with Finley Howells finding the net on the powerplay at 8:47.

However, the Wildcats responded in style as new Canadian, Sean Richards struck twice in quick succession, scoring at 25:43 and 28:21 to turn the game around.

Telford levelled through Ronnie Paragallo at 29:41, before Glenn Billing restored Swindon’s lead in the third period at 44:59.

But the Tigers weren’t finished as Danny Rose found an equaliser at 48:58 to send the game into overtime.

And once again, it was Chris Jones who had the final say.

At 61:23, Jones fired home the overtime winner to secure a 4–3 victory for the Wildcats, repeating his heroics from last season, when his overtime winner secured the league title for Swindon.

It was an excellent way to round off the opening weekend, giving the Wildcats valuable ice time against a strong Telford side.

With two tight games, plenty of goals and a dramatic overtime winner, the Wildcats have plenty of positives to take from their first pre-season weekend as they continue building towards the 2026/27 season.
