Swindon Wildcats are absolutely delighted to announce that Sam Bullas, sponsored by JL Mindset Performance, will be taking over from Jan Kostal as captain for the new season. Sam who recently held his testimonial has been with the team for the last 10 seasons and has iced over 500 games for the club.

The passionate number 13 needs no introduction to the fans having first arrived in Swindon in 2009. Head Coach Aaron Nell had only one name in mind when he knew he had to replace Jan as captain for 19/20.

“As soon as I knew Jan was going to retire and I’d need to find a new captain there was only one man for the job. Bully has been fantastic over the last ten years and his commitment to ice hockey in Swindon at all levels is second-to-none. We’re so lucky to have a guy like Bully in Swindon, and now he’s leading the team.

Everyone looks up to him, and I know he’ll bring his own ideas to the team. Having him around for three years is superb and I know he’s proud to have the C on his chest this year.”

The new Wildcats captain also added:

“I am so proud to have been asked by Aaron to be his captain for 19/20. Following Jan will be a very tough task, but it is an honour to lead the boys for the new season. We’ve got the taste of silverware now and we’ll be doing all we can to continue that.

Aaron has put together a great looking roster and I cannot wait to get back to work again in a few week’s time. I’m sure the fans are eager to watch some hockey and I look forward to hearing their support again in the new season. It’s an exciting time for everyone and I can’t wait to see you all at the Season Launch on 1st September.”

Bully will be supported this year by Neil Liddiard and Stevie Whitfield who will be alternate captains for the new season.
