Hey Wildcats Fans,
I’d just like to start my column this week by saying how amazing it was to see and hear the rink so busy last weekend. The team and I have missed the fans as much as you have missed us and it was such a thrill to be playing in front of you all again. It just makes us even more excited to hit the ice this coming weekend.
In terms of last weekend, we knew Leeds would be a tough set of fixtures and it was two really good games of hockey. Obviously, I’m delighted to have got two wins and it was a good starting point for us heading into the second week of our pre-season.
We had the trio of Bailey Hind-Pitcher, Cain Russell and Ollie Endicott icing for us last week and I thought they did a superb job for their first games with us. I was so impressed by how they played and I was delighted for Cain to get on the scoresheet as well on Sunday.
Similarly on Saturday evening I was thrilled for Jack Goodchild to get the winning goal. Jack and Reed both came on loads during the Spring Cup last year and hopefully they’ll continue to be vital parts of our team this season.
Looking ahead to this weekend we’re taking on the Bees IHC and they look to have another strong roster this year. I saw that Dominik Gabaj has landed in the UK and was a real key player for them during the last full season.
We know the Bees will be a tough test for us both in Swindon and in Slough but we’re excited to continue building ready for the real games to kick off the following weekend.
