Saturday night saw the Swindon Wildcats beat the Peterborough Phantoms 2-1. They then completed the perfect weekend with a 6-1 victory over the Hull Seahawks.

Renny Marr was outstanding between the pipes this weekend after making some incredible saves and only conceding two goals across both games.

After a very tight start to the period it was the Phantoms who took the lead through Ales Padelek who rifled a shot into the bottom corner at 08:35.

However Aaron Nell was sent through one on one on a shorthanded breakaway and made no mistake slapping the puck into the back of the net at 17:08.

The second period was very much a battle of the Marr brothers with both goalies making spectacular saves at both ends of the ice.

Some very good penalty killing from both teams meant it would be decided In the last period.

End of the second period: Wildcats 1-1 Phantoms

After a very big penalty kill at the start of the period from the Cats they then took the lead through Colby Tower who managed to squeeze the puck under Jordan Marr at 42:19.

The rest of the period was a defensive masterclass form the Cats who pinned the Phantoms inside their own end of the ice to kill off the game and take the victory on home ice.

The first period was very even with both teams trying to work each other out. However near the end of the period the Wildcats grabbed the first goal of the game with a lovely tip in from Russell Cowley.

End of the first period: Wildcats 1-0 Seahawks

The second period was the Renny Marr show as he made some massive saves denying Themar and Svec on the breakaway.

But with the Seahawks pressuring the Cats they did get their reward through former Wildcat player Svec who dragged the puck past Marr and flicked it into the net at 29:42.

But it was the perfect response from the Cats who scored straight up the other end with Bebris deflecting the puck past McLaughlin.

End of the second period: Wildcats 2-1 Seahawks

The Cats came out strong in the final period and increased their lead to two with Nell placing the puck into the net at 43:54.

Ten minutes later Floyd Taylor got on the scoresheet as he scrapped hard and smashed the puck into the net. Cowley then picked up his second of the game as he jumped onto the loose puck and fired it home.

Tomasz Malasinski then capped off the game with a bit of magic as he skated past two players and backhanded the puck through McLaughlin’s legs to seal the 6-1 victory.
