This Saturday the Swindon Wildcats will be hosting a charity night very special to all the players and staff at the club. Kirsty Hopwood works for back2fitness who many of you know is our physio and sports therapists. One of their team travels with us around the country and to all home games giving the best medical advice to our team.

In August 2019, Kirsty was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer called osteosarcoma, which is in her leg. She had to stop work immediately and start the intense treatment. She’s been having the treatment now for 6 months and is looking to raise awareness and money for the amazing work Osteosarcoma UK does for other people with her diagnosis.

Fellow therapist Stacey Wood, who works closely with our senior Wildcats team said:

We all want to help and support Kirsty with raising awareness and helping her reach the goals she has set herself. We’ll be having a bucket collection to help raise funds for Osteosarcoma UK and help them increase research in this area of bone cancer.

Head Coach Aaron Nell said:

The work that Back2Fitness has done for us over the last two seasons has been remarkable, the least we can do is help Kirsty in achieving her fundraising goals and I hope all the Wildcats fans can give what they can for this amazing charity.

For more information about how you can help support Kirsty in her fundraising, speak to any of the Back2Fitness team who’ll be walking around with collection buckets at this weekend’s game with the Basingstoke Bison.
