Swindon Wildcats are thrilled to confirm the arrival of Josh Batch from the Cardiff Devils. This year would have been his tenth consecutive season with the EIHL side, however, with the Elite League being shut down Josh has now signed for the 20-21 season in Swindon.
Josh has iced in 590 games for the Devils in his 9 previous seasons, contributing 123 points along the way. Josh brings versatility and toughness to the Wildcats line up with his ability to play as a forward or as a defenceman.
Internationally he has also been a member of four GB teams at World Championship and Olympic Qualifier level, including a silver medal in 2015-16.
Speaking upon announcing his newest arrival, Head Coach Aaron Nell said: “We’re delighted to have Josh signed up for the new season. As soon as the EIHL was cancelled we got in contact and the deal was struck quite quickly. He’ll start as a defenceman for us but can play as a forward if needed too.
I think he’ll complement the other D men really well and he’s coming from the best hockey team in the UK. He’s played at a very high level including for Team GB and in the Champions Hockey League and we’re thrilled to have a player of his calibre in Swindon”.
During his time in Cardiff, he has been a big part of the Devils and since 2014 he’s lifted 2 league titles, 2 challenge cups and 2 playoff titles.
