Adam Harding returned to Cats colours triumphantly with a hat-trick, while Nell, Sam Jones, Edgars Bebris, Chris Jones, and Loris Taylor all notched.

The opening period was a scrappy affair, Hull were uptight through out and often looked to take the game into a physical encounter.

While the Wildcats were happy to stand their ground, Nell says he was impressed with how level-headed his troops were.

“The players were great. I thought it was a good game, it was entertaining for the fans and I’m glad we came out on top,” he said.

“It was important we got the first two goals. We had certain guys out there against their best players and that made it a little bit scrappy.

“We want to win as many games of hockey as we can. I spoke to the players during the week about discipline, we have to make sure we win on the scoreboard.”

The Cats led 4-0 at one stage, but saw the game descend into an untidy affair, which allowed the visitors to force themselves into the game.

While Nell admits he was disappointed in the way the game slipped away from his side, he says he was happy with the range of scorers he had on show.

“We gave away a short-handed goal and the game got away from us a little bit, but it was always going to because they have some good players,” he said.

“The way we came back was great and we got a well-deserved victory. We had a lot of scorers, including Loris who has scored two goals in two games now.

“I know he had a four week trial, but I spoke to him on Friday and he will be with us until the rest of the year now.

“He’s turned up in great shape, he worked hard over the summer and he is very, very skilled and he is going to be big for us this year.”
