Swindon Wildcats continued their strong form in pre-season on Saturday evening with another win in front of a busy Better Link Centre as the Wildcats ran out 4-3 winners against Streatham.

After the double success against Bracknell the weekend before, Aaron Nell and his men were ready for another stern test with Jeremy Cornish and his Streatham side. With names like Rupert Quiney, Leigh Jamieson and Ben Russell arriving in South London to join up with the likes of NIHLS1 player of the year Michael Farn, it would be a hard weekend for the Wildcats.

The game started in such a fashion, Streatham getting the better of the opening couple of minutes after efforts from Alex Roberts and Michael Farn were both denied by Renny Marr in the Wildcats net.

At 09:23 the Cats were able to strike first through an unfamiliar face when Neil Liddiard pressed up from the blue-line and was able to fire the puck high into the top corner of the net. The lead however, didn’t last long and at 10:46 Adam Wood tied the game up thanks to a superb effort with the assists on the goal going to Rupert Quiney and Joshua Condren.

Into the second period and the game remained tied with both sides creating chances to take the lead. It would be the visitors at 23:46 who were able to make their possession count. A breakaway saw Michael Farn with the room too slide the puck home under Marr to give his side the lead.

At 29:30 the Wildcats were able to tie the game up when Chris Jones was set up by Jan Kostal and the Welsh forward slammed the puck home past Damien King in the Streatham net.

The Wildcats continued to press and at 35:19 Edgars Bebris was able to make the most of a power play opportunity and give the Cats the lead for the second time in the game. The assists on the power play marker going to Jan Kostal and Chris Jones.

In the third period there would be just the two more goals. At 44:27 Adam Harding superbly broke down the left wing and fed a pass across the ice to Floyd Taylor who deflected the puck into the net past Damien King.

The game got even more interesting at 55:02 when Ben Russell was able to reduce the Cats lead to a single goal however, the clock was against Streatham and the game ran down with the Wildcats securing their third win of pre-season.
