SWITC are delighted to be partnering up with the National Literacy Trust to join their Swindon Stories project. Swindon Stories is a10-year project to tackle low literacy issues in the area.

Along with their early year’s campaign, the National Literacy Trust has been working with schools and other organisations to deliver books and literacy resources to those who need it most, particularly over lockdown.

Anish Harrison, Swindon Stories Hub Manager for Swindon says “we are thrilled to be working alongside Swindon Wildcats in the Community, to ensure we support children’s health and wellbeing during this time, alongside promoting a love of reading and literacy.  Research shows that if you read, you succeed and we want to give our children and young people every chance to do so”.

Swindon Wildcats in the Community is delighted to once again be engaging school children in the local area by combining sport with reading. Community Development Officer Dave Ridley was joined on a Zoom call with Swindon Wildcat Tyler Plews and the Saboteur Award winner of the 2020 Best Spoken Word Artist, Dominic Berry to talk directly to students in their classroom.

Following the call Swindon Wildcats in the Community and Swindon Wildcats have invited schools and their students from the area to participate in a competition.
