On Saturday night the Wildcats secured a 3-2 victory over the Bison In Basingstoke with two goals from Colby Tower. Despite a narrow 5-3 defeat on Sunday to the MK Lightning, Coach Nell was very impressed with their performance and fight to get back into the game after going 3-0 down in the first 10 minutes.

It was a very tight scoreless first period with both teams defending well stopping any threat toward goal.

End of the first period: Wildcats 0-0 Bison

The Wildcats found the breakthrough early into the second period with Tower finding the loose puck and firing it past Mettam at 22:17

However near the end of the period the Bison got a powerplay opportunity and took full advantage with Landsbergs forcing the puck into the net at 37:17.

End of the second period: Wildcats 1-1 Bison

Both teams got into penalty trouble but some good penalty killing saw the game still level with 10 minutes to go. The Bison then got a break away opportunity and Balaz was at the back post to squeeze the puck past Marr at 53:54.

The Cats showed good fight and came straight back at the bison with Jones showing some lovely skill and roofing the puck to tie the game up once again at 55:27.

The Wildcats then got a late powerplay opportunity and with some good passing the puck found it’s way to Tower who first timed the puck into the roof of the net to win the game for the Wildcats at 57:38

Swindon Wildcats Vs MK Lightning Match Report:

The away side came out flying in the first 10 minutes, Sean Norris fired the first goal past Marr at 03:49. Mack Stewart then received the puck in the slot and fired it into the net at 05:38. Sarkanis then spotted the loose puck and wrist shot it into the top corner at 08:21 to extend their lead to three.

Nell took a timeout for the Cats and they regrouped to see the period out at 3-0.

End of the first period: Wildcats 0-3 Lightning

The Wildcats got on the board early into the second with Tower grabbing another goal at 24:14. However just 19 seconds later Sean Norris found some space in the slot and picked out the top corner.

The Cats didn’t give up and battled back hard with Nell slotting the puck through Hedley at 27:54. Nell then grabbed his second of the game to get within one at 35:09.

End of the second period: Wildcats 3-4 Lightning

The Wildcats gave it everything in the last period but Hedley pulled off some crazy saves to deny the Cats an equaliser. Marr was pulled for the extra skater but the Lightning defended it out and got an empty net goal through Talbot to secure the Victory.
