This Saturday the Swindon Wildcats will host the two members of the NHS Community Learning
Disability and Mental Health team as our charity partners for the evening when we take on the
Sheffield Steeldogs. We’re thrilled to be joined by Olivia and Jennie who are running in the 2020
London Marathon.

They’re going to be raising money for the St John Ambulance and will be hosting a bucket collection
this weekend. As a volunteer for the charity in her spare time, Olivia works regularly alongside a team
of individuals who give up their spare time to promote, train and provide essential life-saving skills.
Therefore, by running the London Marathon they aim to raise vital funds for St John Ambulance so
that they can continue providing treatment and first aid to all who need it.

St John Ambulance are the nation’s leading first aid charity who operate in many different countries
and have been saving lives for 140 years. St John Ambulance not only provide essential training and
skills for first aid emergencies, but also provide workplace training, community, first responders,
ambulance services and first aid cover at events all over the country. One of the mass events covered
annually by St John Ambulance is the London Marathon.

In 2018 around 1400 St John Ambulance volunteers attended the London Marathon to provide first
aid cover for over 40,000 runners. There was approximately one volunteer for every 30 metres of the
26.2-mile course.

All proceeds will go directly to St John Ambulance and their amazing life-saving work.
