Swindon Wildcats Ice Hockey Academy

The Swindon Wildcats Ice Hockey Academy is the next step on a player’s pathway after 'learn to play'. Our Academy which starts at U9s and ends at U18s is a big part of our community programme with many teams seeing multiple successes throughout the season.

The Swindon Wildcats Ice Hockey Academy is one of the community programs biggest successes with over 150 girls and boys representing the Wildcats at youth level.

With experienced, qualified and passionate coaches and volunteers, some who have represented the Swindon Wildcats at the highest level, now take great pride in developing the next generation of ice hockey players. Fans of the Swindon Wildcats will recognise the names Floyd Taylor, Loris Taylor and Stevie Whitfield who are all currently representing the Wildcats after learning their trade in our Academy. Some more players who have fond memories representing our academy include Mark Richardson, Ciaran Long and Jonathan Boxill who all currently play in the Elite League, the highest level of British Ice Hockey.

Our Academy is built for players to have a further opportunity if they show the desire and work hard, we encourage parents to support their child’s team as well as their child and therefore create an environment which is positive and fun to be a part of. Our passionate volunteers work tirelessly to continue to give the best opportunity for every player in our academy.

Our Academy is about more than just ice hockey, our players are taught many things which helps them develop into the best versions of themselves with the club’s values focused on respect, teamwork and hard work. Alongside the values, everyone within the organisation plays a part in ensuring that everyone is safe, having fun and playing in an environment which promotes development.
