SWINDON WILDCATS IN THE COMMUNITY

A registered charity which is strongly associated with the Swindon Wildcats ice hockey team. We endeavour to provide personal opportunities through sport to people from all backgrounds, striving to develop the community we live in.

The professional services which we provide to our community are designed for inclusion and personal development, from player visits to introduction to ice skating sessions and the biggest and most successful junior learn to play program in the UK.

BRAND ETHOS

The Swindon Wildcats in The Community (SWITC) is a non-profit charity which was established in 2008, with strong links to the Swindon Wildcats Ice Hockey Team. We recognise our role within the whole community and strive to develop both sports participation levels and raise awareness of the severe importance of participation, a healthy lifestyle and the development of our community for children and adults. Currently, we host an introduction to ice skating, after school clubs, school ‘Kidzone’ visits, junior learn to play ice hockey, adult recreational ice hockey and the Swindon Wildcats Ice Hockey Academy.

MISSION STATEMENT

To provide safe, interactive and exciting experiences and opportunities for people from all walks of life. To stay committed and passionate in improving the local community by interacting with people of all ages, being innovative and inclusive.

HISTORY

Since being established in 2008 we have been involved in the local community providing a variety of different professional services all respectful to Ice Hockey. We are extremely proud of the relationships we have built up with many schools over the past 11 years who continue to attend our sessions every academic year as a result of the positive effects that the sessions have on the school children. With well over a decade of experience in delivering after school clubs and introduction to skating lessons, our programs have been developed to enhance and maximise the students development and improve a range of motor and cognitive skills including strength, stamina, balance and co-ordination allowing them to grow in confidence and encourage important

social and communication skills each session. In recent years our Kidzone program has allowed us to offer more opportunity to local schools and community groups. Kidzone tickets are gifted to children up to the age of 15 years and discounted tickets to their friends and family are

also available allowing them to attend a home game at the Better Link Centre and see the Swindon Wildcats in action! This scheme allowed many local children and their families the opportunity to see the Wildcats make history and claim 3 trophies across 2 seasons, winning the Autumn Cup, National Trophy and the 2018/19 league!!

Our community team also host the junior learn to play program! Our passionate coaches teach the basics required for Ice Hockey in these engaging and exciting sessions and we are proud that it is one of the best attended pre-ice hockey academy programs in the UK. It creates a pathway into our Swindon Wildcats Ice Hockey Academy and has for many players been the starting point of their careers some even progressing to playing at the highest levels in British Ice Hockey in both the National League, Elite League and World Championships.

With Swindon Wildcats in the Community there is always an opportunity to get involved! In not just a sport but also with a local charity which has personal development and community at its heart. Providing the passion and tools to teach and guide thousands of people in the local area every year.
