KIDZONE

Robbie Kempsford KGF

An interactive assembly delivered by our very own community team! These assemblies aim to get everyone involved and learning about their local ice hockey team. We will bring along official game footage, game-worn jerseys, pucks, players sticks and if available current wildcat players! We explain the amazing sport that is ice hockey and why it’s the fastest team sport on the planet and the coolest sport in our town! Following the Kidzone visit, every child will receive a free ticket to a Wildcat Home Game at the Better Link Centre.

AFTER-SCHOOL CLUB

At Swindon Wildcats in the Community it is our priority to get people involved and provide opportunity, a great way to do this is to host an after-school street hockey or multisport club at your school. Our enthusiastic coaches can attend your school on a weekly basis and deliver exciting sessions in the heart of your school to your students, teaching new skills which can help them progress in other areas of their life. With organised and enjoyable sessions, we provide all the equipment required to get your students engaged in sessions which are designed to aid the development of motor skill in a safe and enjoyable learning environment.

Our after-school clubs run for 1 hour and we can accommodate up to 30 children. Every club is structured to learn and practise skills before being given the opportunity to compete in small games at every session. With lots of schools in the Swindon area booking these sessions and most clubs at capacity, these are great ways for children to try something new and to expand their current skill set with inspirational and experienced coaches who will become a key part of your school.

INTRODUCTION TO ICE SKATING

Plews Chiseldon School photo

Our Introduction to Ice Skating sessions are a great way for a class of up to 30 school children to learn the basics of skating. Sessions are hosted at the Better Link Centre on the same ice pad that the Swindon Wildcats ice hockey team trains and plays and where they recently won the league title.

The sessions are structured to include a welcome safety briefing before fitting the children with skates and helmets, we then host a 60 minute session on the ice pad with Swindon Wildcats in the Community staff who will deliver an enjoyable and challenging session with the aims of seeing every children progress and grow in confidence. On the ice there is a sectioned off area of the pad where only your class will be, creating a learning environment which is exclusive to your students.

Off of the ice there is also a private room which is away from the general public, this is used before and after skating. In 2019 we have provided introduction to ice skating sessions for over 5000 children, we regularly have 10 classes on the ice per week which sees thousands of participants challenge themselves and find a passion for something new.

Staff are asked to attend the session to assist in getting the children ready to skate however are not required to come onto the ice pad and skate with the class. Swindon Wildcats Community Staff will be on the ice for the duration of the session, school staff are able to partake in the session if they are confident skaters. We encourage your staff to take lots of videos and photos, you won’t believe how quick your students will improve their skating with our guidance!
