Massively improved weekend for the Swindon Wildcats as they secured 3 points against the Sheffield Steeldogs and Bees IHC 

Wildcats’ netminder Renny Marr delivered the magic as he scored a goal to help defeat the Bees IHC 5-1 at the Slough Ice Arena. The ‘Cats also picked up a point on Saturday night after losing on penalty shots to the Steeldogs.

The Cats showed a lot of heart this weekend, despite going 5-2 down to the Dogs they battled back to take the game to overtime. Russel Cowley scoring with 1 minute 25 seconds remaining which sent the Wildcats fans crazy.

It was an exceptional performance from Marr on Sunday night who made countless saves and picked up the first goal of his career!

Saturday night game report: Swindon Wildcats Vs Sheffield Steeldogs 

The Dogs opened the scoring on the powerplay with Graham firing it past Marr at 05:36

Just 10 seconds later they doubled their lead with Brownley racing through from face off and picking up his own rebound.

The Wildcats pulled one back on the powerplay with Malasinski squeezing the puck through Zimozdra at 13:50

However, the Dogs got their two-goal lead back with Graham grabbing his second of the game at 17:00

Just over a minute later Malasinski then got his second of the game as he latched onto a bouncing puck and fired it home.

End of the first period: Wildcats 2-5 Steeldogs 

It was the Dogs who started the second period better with Matt Bissonnette racing 1 on 1 and slotting it past Marr at 24:01.

This lead was then extended to three with Brownley getting his second of the game as he squeezed it into the net at 33:59

But the Wildcats didn’t give up and scored two quick goals, first from Pakozdi who flicked the puck off the back of Zimozdra and in. Then the Taylor brothers combined with Floyd firing it into the back of the net.

End of the second period: Wildcats 4-5 Steeldogs 

The Third period was very tense with both teams standing strong defensively. Renny Marr made some excellent saves to keep the Wildcats in it.

And with just 1 minute and 25 seconds remaining Russ Cowley tipped the puck past Zimozdra to send the game to overtime.

End of the regulation: Wildcats 5-5 Steeldogs  

The Cats got a golden opportunity with Nell getting given a penalty shot however his attempt was well saved by Zimozdra.

The game went to penalty shots with Vulkanovs being the only scorer in the shootout handing the extra point to the Dogs.

Sunday night game report: Swindon Wildcats vs Bees IHC 

It was a quick start for the Wildcats as they tested Smital and eventually found the net, Nell skilfully tipped the puck through the legs of the stranded netminder at 15:47

End of the first period: Wildcats 1-0 Bees 

The Wiltshire side carried on the momentum into the second period with Nell getting his second of the game as he flicked the puck into the top corner at 34:39.

The Bees pulled one back on the powerplay through Alan Lack at 29:16.

However, with Gabaj receiving a five plus match penalty, the Cats restored their two-goal lead with a rocket from Tower at 38:15

End of the second period: Wildcats 3-1 Bees 

The Cats continued their dominance into the third period and just 39 seconds in Cowley tipped the puck past Smital.

With Marr making some spectacular saves he capped off the night with his crazy goal to send all the points back to Swindon.
