The Bespoke Guardians Swindon Wildcats are pleased to confirm that Luc Johnson will once again be lining up in the red and white in the 24/25 National League season.

26-year-old Luc re-joined the club last summer after two seasons away with the Peterborough Phantoms. Last year was a transitional move for Luc by playing as a defenceman but a move which proved to be successful as he helped the team two two semi-final appearances.

In terms of numbers, Luc added 17 assists to his tally in 23/24 and will be eager to build upon that in the comping campaign.

Luc started his career in Milton Keynes before moving to Swindon to ice for the Okanagan Hockey Academy where he captained the team and also had appearances, as captain, for both Team GB U18 and U20s.

Speaking after confirming another returnee Head Coach Aaron Nell said:

When we lost Reece Kelly last summer I contacted Luc immediately and he was everything we hoped he’d be and more last year. I think his natural defensive game means him playing on D comes naturally to him and he really grew over the course of the year.

Last year was crazy for all of us, but Luc especially having come in late. This year knowing he’s going to be a part of the team I think will help him at the start of the year and I’m excited to see him develop as a defenceman again. Luc’s one of the best individuals around the game and his personality in the locker room is infectious.

Luc himself added:

I’m really excited to be back for next season, when Aaron asked if I wanted to come back it was a no brainer for me to say yes. Considering the chaos we had at the start of the season, I was really proud to be a part of such a special group. I’m sure you if you ask anyone, they will agree that the push we made once we got back into our own rink was incredible and if we had that from September, I believe it would’ve been a very successful year.

Of course, there have been some big losses over this summer especially with Whits & Russ. However, the roster Aaron is building is very exciting and I can’t wait to get going again come September.

Enjoy your summer Wildcats fans and I’ll see you all soon!
