Despite two tough losses to the Bristol Pitbulls and Milton Keynes Lightning the Swindon Wildcats bounced back to beat the Peterborough Phantoms 3-2 in overtime.

The Wildcats faced the challenge of a three game weekend. The weekend started with a very narrow 6-3 defeat to local rivals Bristol Pitbulls on Friday night. The Cats managed 51 shots on goal but just couldn’t find the finishing touches.

It wouldn’t come any easier as the Cats then fell short to a 7-2 defeat away in Milton Keynes on Saturday night.

However the Cats didn’t give up and battled hard up in Peterborough to defeat the Phantoms 3-2 in overtime with player coach Aaron Nell scoring the winner.

Swindon Wildcats VS Bristol Pitbulls:

It would be a quick start for the Wildcats as Chris Jones netted the first goal of the game at 1:07, This lead was then doubled with Tomasz Malasinski breaking away shorthanded and slotting it through Kerlins legs at 6:18.

The Pitbulls battled back into the game with Mason Lipsey firing it past Marr at 7:02. Bristol would then tie the game through Josh Shaw at 13:01. Just before the end of the second period, the away side took the lead through Nick Coric at 16:27.

End of the first period: Wildcats 2-3 Pitbulls

Colby Tower grabbed the equalising goal with a lovely backhand at 29:14, however the Pitbulls hit straight back with Jay Warren squeezing it past Marr at 30:34.

End of the second period: Wildcats 3-4 Pitbulls

Early into the third period the a Pitbulls picked up a two goal lead through Ed Bradley at 42:40. Despite lots of pressure from the Cats the Pitbulls capped off the win with a empty net goal through Clarke-Pizzo.

End of the game: Wildcats 3-6 Pitbulls

 

Swindon Wildcats VS MK Lightning:

It was a fast start from the Lightning with Chamberlain netting the first goal at 8:03. They then doubled there lead on the power-play through Kane at 10:39.

End of the first period: Wildcats 0-2 Lighting

The Cats battled back into the game with Reed Sayers scoring at 26:32, however the lightning restored their two goal lead through Sean Norris at 27:18. Norris then scored another at 30:27. Just two minutes later Norris capped off a second period Hatrick. Malasinski gave the Wildcats a bit of hope scoring at 39:15.

End of the second period: Wildcats 2-5 Lightning

The Lightning then scored two quick goals through Field and Christie to cap off a very dominant performance.

End of the game: Wildcats 2-7 Lighting

Swindon Wildcats Vs Peterborough Phantoms:

The Phantoms started on the front foot with Mitchell-King squeezing the puck past Renny Marr at 1:08, however the Cats battled back into the game and captain Sam Bullas smashed it home to make it 1-1.

End of the first period: Wildcats 1-1 Phantoms

Bullas then got his second of the game and put the Wildcats ahead with a lovely backhand finish past Jordan Marr at 26:50.

End of the second period: Wildcats 2-1 Phantoms

It was a very tense third period for the Cats with Jordan Marr robbing Colby Tower and Tomasz Malasinski. And with 10 minutes to go the Phantoms equalised through Tom Norton to send the game to overtime.

End of the third period: Wildcats 2-2 Phantoms

The Wildcats dominated the overtime period and player coach Aaron Nell wrapped around the net and slotted it through Jordan Marr’s legs to hand 2 points back to Swindon.
