With the Wildcats losing 5-3 on Friday night to the Bees IHC. It would be the perfect response with a 7-6 penalty shot win at the Link centre. Followed by a comfortable 7-2 win in Sheffield to help them move closer to the Dogs in the NIHL division.

Malasinski scored 4 goals and added 3 assists this weekend to put him as the top point scorer in the league.

 

Saturday Night match report: Wildcats vs Steeldogs 

It was an explosive start for the Dogs with Vulkanovs forcing the puck through Marr at 01:37 However the Wildcats responded with Russell Cowley dragging the puck past Zimozdra and slotting it into the net at 03:35

Th Cats then took the lead through Chris Jones with a wrist shot into the back of the net at 10:33. But this time the Dogs responded with Alex Graham sniping the puck into the top corner at 14:20

End of the first period: Wildcats 2-2 Steeldogs 

Godfrey then made a lovely pass to Tower who made no mistake firing the puck past Zimozdra at 27:47. After some good penalty killing, Malasinski made a great pass to Nell who raced one on one and smashed it into the net at 32:31.

End of the second period: Wildcats 4-2 Steeldogs 

Vulkanovs picked up his second of the game and put the Dogs within one at 42:02. However just over a minute later Malasinski sniped the puck into the top corner to restore the two-goal lead.

Tower then picked up his second of the game after he squeezed the puck through Zimozdra.

With under 10 minutes to go the Steeldogs pulled of a brilliant comeback with Buesa grabbing their fourth at 52:26. The at 57:04 Graham smashed the puck straight through Marr to get them within one. With the Dogs remaining on the powerplay Graham got the game tying goal and his hattrick to send it to overtime.

With no one scoring in overtime it went to penalty shots. Nell missed the first one. Vulkanovs then had his penalty saved. Malasinski squeezed the puck five hole to make it 1-0. Graham then had his penalty expertly saved by Marr. Chris Jones then backhanded his top shelf to make it 2-0. Marr then made his third penalty save on Bissonnette. Tower raced down the ice and backhanded it top corner to give the Wildcats maximum points.

Sunday Night match report: Wildcats Vs Steeldogs  

It was a rapid start to the game with racing away one on one and sniping the puck top corner in 31 seconds. Malasinski then picked up his second fizzing it through Zimozdra at 05:49.

The Dogs responded with a goal of their own, Kirk slap shotting the puck into the top corner past Marr. However, Malasinski completed a first period hattrick as he fired past Zimozdra at 18:21.

End of the first period: Wildcats 3-1 Steeldogs 

The Dogs got an early powerplay opportunity and Buesa rocketed a shot past Marr at 21:25. But Nell restored the Cats two goal lead with a very smart play hitting the puck from behind the goal off Zimozdra and in the net at 24:59.

Nell then picked up his second of the game with a lovely tip in which hit the post but then deflected off the back of Zimozdra and in the net.

End of the second period: Wildcats 5-2 Steeldogs             

It was a very professional performance In the third period and was capped off with a powerplay goal from Reed Sayers at 57:15. Jones then added another with 46 seconds remaining to send all the points back to Swindon.

End of the game: Wildcats 7-2 Steeldogs 

A jam-packed weekend for the Wildcats which sees them pick up 4/6 points. The Bespoke Guardian Swindon Wildcats are back in action next Saturday against the Hull Seahawks.
