The Bespoke Guardians Swindon Wildcats are delighted to announce that Welsh forward Chris Jones has signed a contract extension with the club to go through the 2023/24 Planet Ice National Ice Hockey League National Division season.

CJ initially joined the club in 2016 following his move from the Cardiff Devils. Since then, he’s been a pivotal part of the club and this season he surpassed 300 games for the Wildcats.

At the time of writing he’s iced in 314 games for the Cats, scored 138 goals and put up 224 assists for 362 points during his time here.

This season he’d been awarded an A as part of the captaincy team following the departure of Neil Liddiard and Stevie Whitfield stepping down.

Head Coach Aaron Nell was delighted to have secured his signature for another season.

“We’re so happy to have CJ signed up for another year. He’s one of the big parts in our locker-room and has really excelled in the leadership role he’s taken on as well. 50 plus point British forwards don’t grow on trees and for everything else CJ brings as well it just makes this a massive signing.

He plays a big role in our powerplay too which has been massively improved this year. I’m sure the fans will be just as happy to see him back in Swindon once more”.

Similarly, Chris himself said:

“Signing in Swindon again was a straightforward decision. I love playing here and the club has been great to me since moving from Cardiff.

We want to be back in the hunt for all trophies next year and from talking to Aaron I’m sure we will be. The focus is now on the playoffs and trying to finish this season in the best possible way. The fans have been brilliant once more and I’m looking forward to being back on that ice again next year.”
