With a defenceman and a netminder already on the roster for the 22/23 NIHL Season, The Bespoke Guardians Swindon Wildcats are delighted to confirm that Chris Jones has extended his stay in Swindon for another 12 months after agreeing a new contract.

Chris, a 31-year-old centreman, has become a crucial part of the Wildcats second line in recent years since joining from the Cardiff Devils. Much like Plews and Marr, he’s been vital in securing the trophies we have done since first joining the side in 2017.

He was also voted the NIHL South 1 player of the year by the EIHA in 2019 the year the Wildcats won the league title, a very memorable season for both player and staff alike.

Head Coach Aaron Nell was thrilled to have CJ back in his locker-room from September onwards.

Getting CJ back is another huge signing for us. With Plewsey, Renny and now Chris we have a very strong core to start off the recruitment with. CJ is vital to our second line and when he has missed games, he’s shown how crucial he is. Sometimes the work he does goes under the radar but in the locker-room we know how important he is for our team.

Nell went onto add:

We wanted to get these three announcements out early as we know their big fan favourites and key members to our team. We’ve got a long way to go this season still and it’ll be good for them all to focus on the games in hand and not worry about what they’ll be doing in the summer.
