Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year, there was loads of hockey for you all to enjoy and I’d like to thank you all for your support over the festive period.

Firstly, I was so proud of the team for their performance in the second leg of the Autumn Cup final against Leeds. We knew it was going to be tough to bring the trophy home and we were all buzzing that we did that. Renny stood on his head at the end of the game but we got over the line and hopefully that will be the first of a few trophies for us this year.

Since then though the results haven’t been what we would have hoped. I’ve been saying all along every club would be impacted by Covid and most clubs have been over this festive period. We’ve been incredibly short due to Covid/injuries in the last 5 games but I’m proud at how we have competed as a team.

The players that have stepped in from the Bristol Pitbulls have been brilliant, when you look at the age of the majority of these players they are all under 20 and for them to get the ice time they have, in the situations they have done is brilliant for them. The future is bright, and whilst the results were tough to take, the lessons these young players have had will be positive for both us and Bristol going forward.

I’d also like to personally name Loris Taylor and John Dibble for stepping in when we needed as well, Loris for the goals he has scored for us and also John for the Netminding he gave us in Basingstoke.

Looking ahead to this weekend I’m incredibly hopeful we’ll have the majority of our team back in the line-up. This will be a great relief to not only the players missing, but also the players that have logged so many minutes over Christmas & New Year.

We want to get back into the practice and game schedule, get back into the habits that proved successful for us in the first half of the season and have a successful 2022.

Fingers crossed, this starts this weekend against Leeds and Peterborough.

Enjoy the hockey!

Aaron
