Hey everyone,
It was brilliant to get back into the swing of things with a four-point weekend last time out against the Steeldogs. They were two really good and tough games of hockey. Saturday was probably the fastest game we’d played in all season and it was great to get the win.
I thought particularly at home we were very clinical and that was a big reason in getting the win. Renny was superb at the back end all weekend as well, he made some huge saves at crucial times.
Sunday as well we had a really good start and had to ride out the storm through the middle period. The overtime winner from Tomasz was the kind of play we know Tomasz can do, he was calm on the puck and picked the spot in the back of the net.
The other thing I’d say about Saturday is how brilliant the atmosphere was in the rink again, there were more drums and louder chants and it really helped us especially as the game was in its final stages. Leigh did a great job again, and Scratch was superb!
This weekend against Telford really is the biggest weekend of the year. The top three teams are beginning to pull away from the rest of the league and if we want to win the title, we’re going to have to win games against Telford and Milton Keynes.
I’m sure this weekend will be a very competitive and entertaining weekend of hockey. We need to take it a period at a time and play to our strengths.
