After a narrow overtime defeat on Thursday night, the Wildcats returned to the Link Centre ice pad to take on the table topping Leeds Knights in their first game of the weekend.

The first period saw a couple of early chances at both ends of the ice with Mac Howlett going close for Leeds and Glenn Billing going close for the hosts but after twenty minutes the scoreline remained 0-0.

The middle stanza proved to be much of the same with the Cats outshooting the Knights 12-7 but were unable to convert. The closest chances for either side came on the powerplay but after fourth minutes of hockey the score-line stayed at 0-0.

The third and final period of the game turned into a contest which would be decided by a single goal. Gael Lubwele found room off the draw to fire past Sam Gospel making the scoreline 1-0 in favour of the Wildcats.

The goal proved to be the only goal of the game and a superb MOM performance by Renny Marr kept the shutout against the league leaders.
