After 91 days away from the Better Link Centre, on Saturday 16th December hockey returned to Swindon and the Cats secured a huge 8-2 win against Sheffield.

After the excitement and buildup of the first game back, the opening puck dropped and it would only be around 2 minutes before Gael Lubwele opened the scoring in front of over 1000 Swindon fans. However the Steeldogs pressed and found an equaliser through Jonathan Kirk before Tomasz Malasinski made it four games in a row with a goal as the first period closed out with a 2-1 scoreline.

In the middle period the Wildcats stepped it up a gear and it all started with a superb third goal. Reed Sayers picked the puck up and ripped it past Zimozdra for a 3-1 lead. The fourth goal came shortly after when Chris Jones made a superb tip in front from an Eddie Bebris shot.

The Wildcats continued to press and made it 5-1 through an unlikely source when Stevie Whitfield added another goal before the 6th Wildcats goal, and fourth of the second period, was added by Gael Lubwele just before the second period break.

Early in the third period Tyler Plews added another goal from a Defenceman to make it 7-1 before Gael Lubwele completed his hat-trick with a superb team powerplay goal to make it 8-1.

The Steeldogs did pull a consolation goal back with less than 10 minutes to play, but Swindon controlled the game and secured the 8-2 win on their first home game back.
