On Saturday evening the Cats travelled west to Bristol for the first competitive M4 Derby of the season against the Pitbulls.

After a positive weekend against Leeds and Peterborough the Wildcats were hoping to add to that but sadly fell to a 6-1 defeat at the hands of their local rivals.

Early on in the first period Juha Lindgren scored his first goal of the evening on a delayed penalty goal before later in the period Nik Coric added a second on the powerplay to finish the first period with an 2-0 scoreline.

In the middle 20, the Pitbulls added to their goal tally through a second goal for Nik Coric finding just enough room under the crossbar to make it 3-0. Later in the second period, Juha Lindgren scored his second of the evening with a low shot past Renny Marr to make it 4.

Inside the final minute of the period the Pitbulls added a 5th through former Wildcat Mason Lipsey, also on the powerplay, as the Cats faced the final period with a 5 goal deficit.

In the final period the Cats did manage to break the Ben Norton shut-out with a superb finish from Reed Sayers bringing the gap back to four, however this would be short lived. Moments later, Reece Cochrane pounced on a loose puck in the slot to fire past Tyler Perre; who’d come in for relief instead of Marr.

This would prove to be the final goal of the game as the Pitbulls closed out the victory and the man of the match performance going to the birthday boy Josh Shaw, celebrating his 18th birthday.
