On Saturday evening a crazy game in Scotland saw the Cats run out 8-7 winners after an overtime victory against the Solway Sharks.

Despite the final score, it would be the hosts who opened the scoring through Mason Alderson just after the five minute mark. However the Wildcats pounced back relatively quickly and scored three goals in the remainder of the opening period. First Captain Sam Bullas tied the game before goals from Tomasz Malasinski and Russ Cowley ensured the 1-3 lead after 20 mins.

Mason Alderson added his second of the night in the first minute of the second period to reduce the scoreline to 2-3. However just over a minute later, the Cats extended their lead back to two goals thanks to Colby Tower. Tomasz Malasinski scored a superb individual goal off the bottom of the cross bar at 23:24.

Lewis Young reduced the scoreline to 3-5 with an impressive individual goal of his own shortly after. Inside the final minute of the second period Gael Lubwele scored the Cats 6th as we entered the second period break, with a three-goal advantage.

The Sharks raced out of the traps in the final period with three goals in just over four minutes as the game swiftly went from 3-6 to 6-6. John Dunbar, Lewis Young and Nolan Gardiner with the three goals for the Scottish outfit.

Wildcats Head Coach Aaron Nell added his side’s 7th of the evening at 47:52, but there was still time for Lewis Young to complete his hat-trick and send the game to overtime with a goal at 53:33.

The overtime period saw chances at both ends of the ice with Renny Marr and Callum Hepburn both making big saves in the bonus hockey period. However it would be Tomasz Malasinski who shovelled the puck home at 64:48 to make sure the game avoided a shootout.
