On Sunday evening the Wildcats travelled to Romford in their only game of the weekend and secured a 5-3 victory against the Raiders.

After an even first period where both teams tested each other’s netminders, it was the Cats who opened the scoring when Tomasz Malasinski deked the Raiders goalie to open the scoring. Shortly after Glenn Billing added his first goal of the evening as the Cats went into the first break with a 2-0 lead.

In the middle period the Raiders reduced the deficit to a single goal when Blahosla Novak scored a power play goal. However within 2 minutes the Wildcats extended that lead back to two goals with a superb Russ Cowley shorthanded goal.

In the final period the Raiders once more pulled the game back to within a goal when Riley MacRae scored his first of the night. With less than 5 minutes to go, Glenn Billing scored the Cats fourth goal before Riley MacRae added one back for the Raiders with the netminder pulled.

The clock ticked down and Balint Pakozdi was on hand to score into the empty net and ensure the points came back from Essex with his team.

MOM for the Cats with a good defensive performance was Luc Johnson.

Next weekend sees another single game weekend with the first match against the Telford Tigers of the season.
