Tonight’s one to watch is a British defenceman playing in his prime years, Dan Scott is one of the top defenceman in the NIHL and when he was announced as signing for the Raiders it was seen as a real coup and a signal of intent for the Raiders and they have retained him for this another season in the NIHL National League.

Scott started out in Kent playing his junior hockey through the Invicta junior system and it was evident from a young age that he was a talent, representing England at various age groups. It was then onto the USA for 2 years where Scott completed his junior years, so many British juniors go to the US and come back better players and this was no different, that season he went onto captain the GB u18s.

Following his experiences in the US Scott returned to the UK and signed with the Telford Tigers while also earning some call ups to the Elite League with Coventry, during this year Scott was named an alternate captain with the GB u20s for the December world junior tournament. A full season in the Elite League with the Hull Stingrays followed this but it was to be his only season in the Elite League as the next season Scott signed with the Slough Jets where he spent 2 ½ years.

With the arrival of Wayne Scholes and Red Hockey in Telford they quickly moved to sign Dan Scott and he became a key part of their trophy winning teams. However with the then demise of Red Hockey, Scott made the choice to move to Basingstoke where he once more contributed to some trophy winning teams.

With the drop to the NIHL Scott stayed with the Bison and had a good year with Basingstoke but he made the choice to make the move to Romford in the 2018-19 season and after a very good debt year he returned and was rewarded with an ‘A’ on his shirt. With his return this year for his 3rd season in Essex I’m sure he will once more be a solid rock at the back for the Raiders.
