Tonight’s one to watch is a superb young forward who is already producing performances and the output to go with it of someone many years his senior. Bradford born Kieran Brown is playing his first season in Leeds and has already made quite the impression.

Brown started his junior career in his hometown with the Bradford Bulldogs junior sides but his talent was obvious from an early age and he was quickly involved with the Sheffield Steelers in the Elite League. This was after two years spent in the United States where he played in Iowa in the AAA junior system.

Brown was only 16 when he made his debut with the Steelers and in this rookie year he played 19 games and scored 3 points, mightily impressive for somebody so junior. His talent needed ice time to progress though and alongside his time with the Steelers he also played in the NIHL for Blackburn and scored points at over 2 per game.

The next season Brown’s time was spent across a multitude of teams, mainly dressing for the Steelers but also making appearances for Blackburn, Sutton and Bradford to get minutes on the ice into his legs. It was during these two years that he played for Great Britain at both U18 and U20 level, he recorded over a point per game at each of the tournaments he played in.

In the 2019-20 season Brown made the decision to play in the NIHL National and he signed with the Sheffield Steeldogs, this was the perfect level for him to develop himself as he is one of the top players in the division and will be given lots of responsibility. In the 19 games he played Brown scored 34 points, including 10 goals.

Post-pandemic and with the Leeds Knights established he took the opportunity to play for a club closer to home and with the Knights this year Brown has scored 56 points in just 24 games, this is well over 2 points a game production which is absolutely superb.
