The Bespoke Guardians Swindon Wildcats are delighted to confirm that Renny Marr has put pen to paper on a new contract which will see him stay in Swindon for another year.

Renny, who needs no introduction to Swindon fans, originally joined the Cats in 2017 following a summer move from the Coventry Blaze. In his first season with the club he backstopped us to both the Autumn Cup and National Cup.

Since that initial success, Renny has been a pivotal part of our organisation adding another Autumn Cup and a League Title to his CV. With his prime years still ahead of him, this year he’s posted a 28-13-1 record at the time of writing and a GAA of just over 3.

Head Coach Aaron Nell said:

“Your netminder needs to be your best player every night to win games of hockey. With Renny we have one of the best in the National League. He’s always been a huge part of our team but he’s maturing into one of our key players.

Renny’s brilliant in the locker room and is becoming a large part of our organisation. We’re delighted he’s chosen to stay another year and are excited to see him grow further once more.”

Similarly, Renny himself added:

Since coming down from Coventry I’ve loved every minute in Swindon. It’s become a second home to me and the club have looked after me so well. The fans are brilliant and we have a great locker-room, it was a straightforward decision to stay for another year!

We’ve got the playoffs on the horizon where we’re targeting some silverware but that aim just rolls into next year with the aim to be back fighting for more trophies. We’ve had a taste of it in the past and we’ll be ready to push again!”
