For the fourth consecutive season The Bespoke Guardians Swindon Wildcats will have the Scottish presence of Tyler Plews on the blue-line, after the Kirkcaldy born D man put pen to paper on another year in Swindon.

In the summer of 2018, Tyler joined fellow Scot Renny Marr in Swindon, after joining from the Edinburgh Capitals in the EIHL. Since the move, Tyler has become one of the most popular players in Swindon and a true fan favourite with the Wildcats fanbase.

In his debut season for the Wildcats the 23-year-old played a crucial part in the NIHLS1 League Title and has only grown into his roles in the years since. During the last NIHL National Season he increased his goal tally from 2 to 6 and his points tally from 11 to 17.

Coming into the new season Head Coach Aaron Nell was delighted to have secured his signature once more:

Tyler has come into the club and taken the Wildcats truly to his heart. He’s such a popular part of our locker-room and someone with an infectious personality. The fans really love him in Swindon and every year he’s improved on the ice.

Whilst his on ice work is impressive, he’s also bought into other areas of the organastion working alongside our Community & Academy programmes regularly attending school visits and Learn To Play sessions.

His game has really matured and he’s become a top four defenceman for us in the last couple of years. He’s increased the amount of ice time he gets and is someone I can trust in the big moments of the game. He’s still got room to improve and has plenty of years ahead of him.

I can’t wait to get back to work with Tyler and I know how popular this signing will be with our fans.”

You can hear an exclusive interview this lunchtime with Tyler as he’s the latest guest to join The Wildcast podcast. When you’re listening to the episode, don’t forget to subscribe for some brilliant Swindon Wildcats related content.
