Next up on the line of announcements for The Bespoke Guardians Swindon Wildcats is the news that Reed Sayers will once again be icing for his hometown team in the 23/24 Planet Ice NIHL National Division campaign.

Reed, a 22-year-old forward, has spent almost his entire career in Swindon from junior level to senior levels. He made his debut for Swindon in the Covid impacted season of 20-21 and has continued to play a vital role in the forward lines since.

His first full season saw him post 14 points in 44 games, including a goal in the Autumn Cup Final second leg in Leeds. Going into last season Reed had what could be described as a breakout year, almost doubling his point total from 21/22.

In 45 regular season games he posted 13 goals and 13 assists for a total of 26 points. The British winger has also been capped by Team GB having played a part in the U18 World Championships in 2018.

Head Coach Aaron Nell had the following to say following Reed’s return:

Reed had a strong season last year and we were thrilled with the production he bought to the team. Reed will hopefully become a big part of this hockey team for a long time. The goal for Reed is to keep building because he all the skills to be a top 6 forward at this level and hopefully he’ll continue to make that jump this year.

He’s going to have some very good players around him again this year and I think he’ll be able to learn a lot from them and put up another strong season.

We’re also pleased to confirm that The Training Fox will once more be backing Reed for the upcoming season.
