The Wildcats will play their final two games of the league campaign this weekend against the Raiders IHC and Peterborough Phantoms with the play offs just around the corner.

The team secured a four point weekend last week. Winning 5-0 against the Bristol Pitbulls and 4-2 against the Milton Keynes Lightning.

Tomasz Malasinski scored his 100th point against the Lightning making it back to back 100 point seasons for the Pole.

Coach Nell was very complimentary of Tomasz and said “He’s certainly the best import we have had in the last 25 years.”

Nell was also “Very happy” with his teams overall performances last weekend and said “Its always nice to beat your local rivals and our win against the Lightning was our best performance for six weeks.”

“We need to focus on the play offs, make sure we don’t do anything silly, and we need to make sure we prepare well so we can have a good play off campaign.” added Nell.

Weekend Preview:

The Wildcats will be looking to end their league campaign off on a high and pick up some momentum before the play offs commence.

The Raiders IHC come down to the Link Centre on Saturday night and they will also be in the Wildcats play off group so its set to be a big tactical battle as they play again against each other again in a few weeks.

The Wildcats have gotten the better of the Raiders this season winning four and losing just one, However the London side are one of the most in form teams in the league.

One of the players to watch from the Raiders is Adam Laishram who scored four goals last weekend against the Bees IHC. He is the top point scorer for the Raiders with 89 and has plenty of NIHL experience.

On Sunday the Cats will play their final league game in Peterborough against the Phantoms. The Phantoms have had an up and down season currently sitting in 5th but could drop to 6th this weekend which would also put them in the Wildcats group for the play offs.

The Wildcats have beaten the Phantoms three times this season and only lost once.

However Phantoms key player Luke Ferrara also hit 100 points last weekend. The former Elite League player has been phenomenal for Slava’s side and is a player to watch out for on Sunday night.

The play off’s home and away fixtures have been released this week, so make sure to purchase your tickets if you haven’t already so you can support the Cats as they look to push for the Coventry play off finals weekend.
