On Sunday night the Wildcats pulled off a huge 3-2 victory against the Milton Keynes Lightning to get maximum points to start their play off campaign.

Renny Marr was the star of the show pulling off some ridiculous saves to stop the Lightning getting back into the game.

Coach Nell said “Renny was a star, you cant beat the Lighting here (in Milton Keynes) without your goalie being one of your best players and Renny was our best tonight.”

“The players blocked shots all night and Glenny made a huge block with twelve seconds to go.” said Nell.

Billing put on a show scoring two massive goals to give the Wildcats the lead both times picking up three points across the weekend.

These two wins this weekend puts the Wildcats joint top of Group B with four game remaining in the fight to make Coventry.

Game Report:

Just like the night before both teams came out hard with big hits being made at both ends of the ice. Malasinki had a shot sneak threw Hedley but it slowed down and stopped on the line and was covered eventually by the keeper.

Both defenses held out and Marr and Hedley made some impressive saves to keep the game goalless.

End of the first period: Lightning 0-0 Wildcats

The Wildcats got an early powerplay at the start of the second period and after some good passing around Malasinski had his shot tipped by Billing which flew past Hedley and into the back of the net to give the Wildcats the lead.

The Lightning battled back into the game well and had many chances on the powerplay but couldn’t find that finishing touch.

Until at 35:14 Lawrence took a shot which came off Carter Hamill’s head and deflected into the net past Marr to tie it up at one.

End of the second period: Lightning 1-1 Wildcats

The Wildcats started the third just like they did in the second with Malasinski finding Billing again and he fired it past Hedley to give the Wildcats the lead back.

Herrman then got into penalty trouble giving the Cats another powerplay opportunity and captain Sam Bullas stepped up with a old school backhand bar down past Hedley.

The Lightning pulled Hedley for the extra skater and did pull one back through Gulliver to make it 3-2.

However it wasnt enough as the Wildcats grinded the game out to get the four point weekend and the perfect start to their play off campaign.

End of the game: Lightning 2-3 Wildcats

The job is not done yet and the Wildcats are back on Saturday against the Raiders in what is set to be another brilliant game.
