Swindon Wildcats are thrilled to announce the first new face to the 2018/19 roster, with the news that Tyler Plews has joined the club from the Edinburgh Capitals.

Tyler, who is a 20-year-old defenceman, joins the club after icing in 137 games in three seasons with the EIHL outfit. Last year he iced in 50 games scoring one goal and four assists along the way.

The 6’ 1” D man, joins the club looking to continue the success of 17/18 and is eager to impress in front of his new fans.

“I’m coming to Swindon to win trophies.

Aaron has been interested in signing me for a couple of season now and he contacted me through Renny Marr. I think I’m a pretty tough D-Man, I like to throw my body about and block shots, but playing hard every night is what is important.

I’ve played a few seasons in the EIHL with Edinburgh and I’ve played against some top-quality players. I really feel like I’ve developed my game with the Capitals and I’m eager to bring that to Swindon next season.

The Scot is equally as excited to reunite his friendship with Wildcats star netminder Renny Marr.

“I’ve played with Renny all through my junior career and I’m very close friends with him. I’m really excited to be on his team again and I’m really looking forward to the new season. Aaron wants to win more trophies and I’m definitely on board for that.

I can’t wait to get started in Swindon, and hopefully we can bring even more silverware back to the Better Link Centre!” Plews added.

Speaking after confirming his first new arrival of the summer, Head Coach Aaron Nell said:

“I’m pleased to have signed Tyler. His experience at EIHL level is brilliant for someone so young. He’s excited to come down to Swindon and he wants to be a big part of our team.

All the reports I’ve had on him have been excellent. He’s someone who plays the game hard and I think he’ll compliment the other D men we have. I’m really looking forward to seeing him in Swindon colours next season!”.
